Connecting Accounts

How to securely link your bank accounts to PropFlow

PropFlow uses Plaid to securely connect to your bank accounts. This guide covers everything you need to know about linking accounts.

Supported Banks

PropFlow supports over 12,000 financial institutions through Plaid, including:

  • Major banks (Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, etc.)
  • Online banks (Ally, Chime, etc.)
  • Credit unions
  • International banks with US presence

How to Connect

  1. Click Bank Connections in the sidebar (under Settings & Support)
  2. Click the Connect New Bank button
  3. In the Plaid window:
    • Search for your bank
    • Enter your online banking credentials
    • Complete any required verification (2FA, security questions)
    • Select which accounts to link
  4. Wait for the initial sync to complete (this can take several minutes)

Security

Your bank credentials are handled entirely by Plaid and are never stored on PropFlow servers. We only receive read-only access to transaction data.

What PropFlow Can Access

  • Transaction history (deposits and withdrawals)
  • Account names and types

What PropFlow Cannot Access

  • Your bank login credentials
  • Ability to move money
  • Full account numbers

Managing Connected Accounts

You can manage your linked accounts from the Bank Connections settings page:

  • View status: Each connection shows its current status (Connected or Needs Attention) and when it last synced
  • Reconnect: If a connection shows "Needs Attention", click Reconnect to re-authenticate
  • Remove: Delete a connection using the trash icon (requires confirmation)

How Transaction Syncing Works

After you connect a bank account, PropFlow automatically keeps your transactions up to date — no manual action required.

Initial Sync

When you first connect a bank account, syncing happens in two stages:

  1. Initial sync (1-5 minutes): PropFlow connects to your bank and imports recent transactions.
  2. Historical sync (5-20 minutes): PropFlow pulls your full available transaction history (up to 24 months depending on your bank — check the Connection Status page to see how far back your bank typically provides data).

Ongoing Sync

After the initial import, your bank sends updated transaction data to Plaid periodically throughout the day. PropFlow picks up those updates automatically:

  • Most banks: New transactions appear within 12-24 hours of posting
  • Some banks: Updates can arrive as quickly as a few hours
  • Pending transactions: PropFlow imports and displays pending transactions as they appear, marked with a "(Pending)" label. They update automatically once your bank posts them.

PropFlow does not control how quickly your bank sends data to Plaid. If a transaction isn't showing up yet, your bank likely hasn't reported it to Plaid yet.

Checking Your Last Sync

You can see when each bank account last synced on the Bank Connections settings page. Each connection shows a "Last synced" timestamp (e.g., "Last synced 2 hours ago") so you always know how current your data is.

What Triggers a Sync?

  • Automatic: Plaid notifies PropFlow whenever your bank reports new data. PropFlow processes these updates within minutes of receiving them.
  • Initial sync: When you first connect an account, PropFlow imports your available transaction history in 1-5 minutes, with the full historical sync completing within 5-20 minutes.

If your transactions still haven't appeared after 24 hours, see Sync Problems for troubleshooting steps.
